Press Association.—Copyright, London, August 3. _ The police at Authenry met and venti- , lated their claims despite the District Inspector’s prohibition, which was coupled | with a promise to consider their grievances. 400 of the most active demonstrators of Belfast wore transferred to the wildest country districts. The coalmen’s dispute has been settled on a basis of increased pay. The coal dealers insisted that the employers were entitled to engage whom they liked without the Trade Union dictating. The Raihvay and Steamship Companies take tho same stand in connection with the dockers’ and carters’ strike. The Shipping Federation complained to Mr BirreU that since the resources of tho Government at Belfast were unequal to the task of protecting men at lawful work, the Federation should be compelled to provide its owu force. Mr Birrdl declined to receive the deputation from the Federation, declaring that tho local autborites wore able to deal with the situation. August A|m6b at Belfast attacked a prison van aud stoned the police seriously. The police were reinforced and made three charges, using |their batons vigorously, and injuring many persons.' _____
