THE TOTALISATOR.
Mr Poole has .given notice to ask the Premier whether he will in the promised Gaming Bill make provision—l. To reduce the total number of days' racing as existing last year, and for which the totalisator was licensed, bv one-third 2. To provide that the four chief cities shall only have the right to use the totalisator on the number of days specified as follows : Auckland : Auckland Racing Club, twelve days; Wellington: Wellington Racing Club, eight days ; Ohristchurch: Canterbury Jockey Clubs, twelve days; Duuedin :Dunedin Racing Club, eight days. 3. To provide for the balance of the numbro of clays as reduced by one-third, as mentioned above, being divided pro rata by the Racing Conference among the racing clubs now holding permits to use the totalisator. 4. To make obligatory upon all racing clubs to Close the totalisator at least five minutes before the advertised time of the starting of each race, and that no investments be allowed to be rung on the totalisator after the advertised time of starting of each race, the penalty for any breach of this provision upon being reported to the Colonial Secretary to be the immediate cancellation of the club's license to uso the totaliastor at any future meeting of the club ; ant (5) to provide that inspectors be appointed by the Government and paid for by the racing clubs using the totalisator, whose duties shall bo to watch and cheek all investments on the totalisator, and to seo that no investments are rung on it after the advertised time for the starting of each race?
