Mr I). Macpherson, who was in charge of the Manawatu Court at the New. Zealand Exhibition, yesterday received from Mr G. S. Munro, General Manager of that colossal sourco of the country’s funds, the first hatch of 12 out of the 19 diplomas awarded to exhibitors from this district. The following are the names:— G. P. Amor, Feilding,. gold medal for violin and case; Win. Cook, Palmerston, h.c., tallow and beer casks and butter boxes; P. The diplomas are excellent specimens of the lithographic art. The various scenes are typical Maoriland ones. Mt. Egmont and Milford Sound figure prominently on top, the wide-spreading fronds of the beautiful tree fern forming a sort of division between the two. The righthand side panel is from Geyserland, and on the left the rugged peaks of Mt. Cook tower above a peaceful glen. In top left and right hand corners the back and front views gof medal awarded are snugly ensconced in bashes of flax and toi-toi. Some of the diplomas bear the signatures of Hon. Hall-Jones (President) and G. S. Munro (General Manager), while in others that of J. G. Ward is substituted for the absent Minister of Public Works.
