BRITISH POLITICS.
Press Association—Copyright. London, august 2,
In the House of Commons during the discussion on the Foreign Office vote Sir E. Grey stated that Britain’s negotiations with Russia sought to remove all possible causes of quarrel, but the degree of friendship following such agreement depended not on the Foreign Office, but on the sentiments of the two people. He admitted as regards Sugar Convention that unless Britain proposal was accepted the Convention would be broken
up. In tho House of Lords the Butter Bu was road a second time.
Lord Onslow said it was a great pity that Government had not seen its way clear to prohibit the manufacture and sale of milk blended butter instead of sanctioning a fraud on purchasers. The Board ought tu take the greatest care in choosing a name wherouuder the stuff should be sold. There ought to bo one generic term tor it, then perhaps the people would know it was not the genuine article.
