Press Association. Auckland, August 1. Tho Kawau S.S. Co.’s new steamer Daphne wont aground in the Warkworth Eiver at Morrison’s Bend cn Tuesday last and has not yet been floated off. The steamer left Warkworth on Tuesday afternoon and should have arrived at Auckland the same day. Tho s.s. Kapanui passed tho vessel yesterday and her captain reports that it was stated at Warkworth that something had happened to the Daphne’s steering gear, causing her to go aground, but no reference was made to’ this in the captain's wire to the local office.
