a committee meeting of the above Club was held last night. Present: Dr. Skormau, chair; Dr Bennett, Messrs F. R. H. Brice F Young, A. Cameron, S. J. Gibbous, E. Read, K. Deightou and the Secretary. A vote of thanks was passed to tho delegates to the Racing Conference for their services.
In connection with the above meeting it might be stated that G' lß is the first club between New Plymouth and Wellington on tins coast that lias decided to give tbo double machine a trial and there is no doubt but that it will be a successful venture. The racecourse is situated at the Marton Junction, the terminus of the North Island Mam Trunk lino, and tho north and south trains time-table being very suitable a record meeting is predicted, iho course has been fenced since the last meeting and will bo painted be tore I the race days. The saddling and outside paddock have been considerably enlarged, and the jockeys room doubled in size, and an ' ambulance ward erected. The steeplechase •course is an ideal one, and instead ot going through the centre of the enclosure as formerly tho field lor the Hunt Oup will start at the mile and a distance post and over tho following obstacles: Double hurdle, brush, sod wall, coop, brush, live fence, coop and over the same course again, which should give tho hunters at present in training an excellent opportunity of showing tlioir jumping abilites.
