COAL LUMPERS’ STRIKE.
A Settlement Probable. , Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, July 18. Through the intervention of Mr Hughes, secretary of the Seamen’s Union, a conference between representatives of the Colliery Owners’ Association, the Coal Lumpers’ Union and Mr Hughes was held to-day. The employers made certain proposals which will be submitted for consideration to tho men. The President of the Trades Hall Council to-night made a statement that the whole trouble would be concluded in a day or two. Sydney, July 19.
A special meeting of the Coal Lumpers’ Union will be held to-day to discuss tho employers’ latest proposals. It is believed there is _ good reason for hoping that an amicable settlement of the trouble will result.
