AXEMEN’S ASSOCIATION

Press Association. ELTHiM, July 16. The annual meeting ’ of the New Zealand Axemen’s Association was held last night. The Mayor (Mr G. W. Taylor) presided. The annual report, which was adopted, showed that during the year there had been a large increase in the number of axemen reigstered and clubs affiliated witii the Association, ' 534 axemen being licensed as against 307 last year, an increase of 327. The number of affiliated clubs increased from 26 to 51. The year's operations resulted in a credit balance of £45 4s sd, The assets of the Association now amounted to £238 6s lOd, of which £213 15s IQd is in hard cash. The Governor" whs elected patron, and the following as directors: — Messrs Taylor, Hansen, Gattanaeh, Carman, Carter, W. J. Stunners, T. C. Stunners. 1 ’Afr P. jA- hfobre was elected a s life member.
