Mr Asquith, in opening the offices of a large insurance company in the Strand, said he thought bottom had been touched in connection with the depreciation of national credit. There were distinct signs that upward progress had begun. Referring to investment in ground values he remarked that in the legislation contemplated existing contracts and obligations would be rigidly respected.
