RANGITIKEI HUNT.

By “Pigskin.”

Those hounds met on Saturday last at “View Hallo,” the residence of the Master, Mr D. G. Biddiford, and had a very good day’s sport, indeed, over “View Halloa” and “Rawhitiroa,” the property of Mr Levin. The weather was perfect and the going fairly good. The fences, though nearly all wire, wore nico and clean and there was one glorious gorse fence, a rarity nowadays, and with what joy do the field ride at it. It was a very little while before a hare was found and there was no doubt that there was a scent; hounds revelled in it. and they took us round “View Halloa” and on to the Crofton-Greatford road as fast as anyone could wish. Hounds got across the road a lot quicker than tho field did, as tho second fence of the double was a nasty jump and until some enterprising horse broke tho top wire most of tho field wore still on tho road. However, tho hare ran round and back into tho scrub and on fresh hares’ getting up the hounds-wore taken on to “’Rawhitiroa,’’where a fresh hare was soon on foot and which hounds ran as if they were tied to it right round “Rawhitiroa” nearly to Pukepapa Hill and back on tiie homestead side. But, alas, your correspondent was not there to" seo what happened as old ago is creeping on both horse and man and “’tis the pac? that kills.” However, as far as I can hoar they did not kill but had another gallop before the word homo was given atfor a real good day’s sport. Mrs Biddiford on Cinders and Miss Smith on Greasy were the only ladies following, but there was a largo field of members out. Mrs Biddiford dispensed afternoon tea to a largo party of followers and onlookers and so ended one of tho best days of tho season.
