The Counties Conference spent this afternoon considering the Local Government Bill. Clause 23 was amended. It wqs resolved that no elector should lie allowed more than three votes. The clause which makes the whole Council go out of office every three years was passed qnfi the clause providing for the' expenses of members attending Council meeting was approved. July 10. The Counties’ Conference to-day discussed the questions of and. subsidies for roads and bridges, and loans in respect of opened up areas and areas not opened up. After a lengthy discussion it was resolved that this Conference is against the proposed substitute for subsidies in the Local Government; Bill fihH nrgqs that ■ subsidies 4 ' should "he granted on a graduated scale.
