London Markets. Press Association—Copyright. London, July 3, Owing to the unfavorable weather in Europe and higher American quotations, wheat has hardened. In the markets fair business was done [at about Is advance. There is a good Continental demand for cargoes, sales for which were made from 35s to 375. Australian on spot is very scarce at 36s to 36s 6d. New Zealand wheat is exhausted, and is nominally 33s to 34s for short-harried, 34s to 35s for long-berried. Flour is firm at 6d advance for Australian. London quotation 24s to 255, Glasgow 26s 6d. Butter is ,vith a slightly better tone. D .'Aish is 109 sto Ills. Colonial is nJglected and nominally unchanged. Cheese : New South Wales sold to 60s, Victorian 525, Queensland 525, new Canadian 575, New Zealand Gls to 625. Antwerp wool sales closed at opening figures. Out of 6705 bales La Plata offered 2459 were sold.

Bradford wool: There is more enquiry, 40’s, 16id; 46’s, 17ifd; common 60’s, 27d ; super, 28d.

Grain and Seed

Messrs Todd land Douglas, Dunedin, report:—Oats; The market is rather quieter than it was last week hut prices show no change and with the country demand continuing strong we don’t look for any lower level. The demand more than absorbs any fresh lots that offer from the country and we think it is only a matter of a short time when higher prices will rule. Stocks ar® very light and holders are firm in their ideas. Wo quote as follow : A Gartons and Sparrowbills 3s 2}£d, B grade 3s to 8s 3d, O grade 3s to 3s Duns 3s 3>£d to Ss 3d, Long Tartars 3s 3d to 3s 6d, ail f. o.b.s.i. Milling Wheat: Another tremendous ran has commenced on this, following the cables received from London and America. The market up to last Thursday was quiet but on Friday the movement commenced again and buyers are now offering increased prices to get supplies. The statistical position is very strong. Byegrass: Market quiet but fairly firm ; no change in prices which are as follow : Colonial seed 33-341 b choice 6s Gd, S.S-30 5s 9d to Cs, 26-38 5s 2d to 5s 9d, imported seed 29-30 -Is 6d to 4s 9d, 26.-37 4s 2d to 4s sd, 33-25 4s to 4s 3d, all f.o.b. sacks extra. Cocksfoot: The strong demand continues, both for export and local consumption, and prices have hardened. Some holders are now looking for 6d per lb and that price is getting well within sight. To-day’s values are as follow: 17lb machine dressed 5%d to 5%d, IGlb 6%d to 5%d, 15lb j£k;d to 5%d, 14 to s>£d. Undressed seed has been sold at 4%d ex store, rough seed for surface sowing is worth 3%d to 4d per lb, all f.o.b. sacks extra.
