WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.
The Presbytery of Wanganui met in St Andrew’s Hail yesterday. A large amount oi business was gone through. Among other things there were reports from the mission stations, which showed that real advance was being made with the work o. the Church in the back blocks. Some ot the reports from these stations were of a highly encouraging character. There was also a call laid on the table fiom the congregation of Bulls to the Rev. Evan Evans to be their minister. It was signed by almost the entire membership of She congregation, and several of the officebearers of the Bulls congregation who were present spoke most hopefully of the prospects of the congregation. In the evening there was a very hearty and interesting meeting of the St Andrew s congregation, under the auspices of the Presbytery, in connection with the home mission work of the Church. The Eev. B. Hutson, the Moderator of the Presbytery, presided. The Rev. R. M. Ryburn. M-A., \ ■ gave an earnest and instructive address on '] the duties of the Church to the work in the f back blocks. He also showed the needs o£ the back districts, and gave an account of the progress ot the Church during the last : few years. During that time the stations of the Presbyterian Church in the Wanganui Presbytery had about doubled. Mr Bishop, home missionary of Taihapo, then gave an account of a home missionary’s work that was both amusing and im-
pressivc. The Rev. B. McCwlly followed with an instructive address on tne principles oi giving. The St Andrew's choir enlivened the meeting by giving two anthems. The meeting was in every way successful.
