A BIG SWINDLE.
Press Association —Copyright. London, June 11. A Spanish lady resident in Paris named Debistgiu, obtained judgment against Frank Lacroix Gardner, a company promoter, lately in London, for £837,000. Sir Edward Carson stated that plaintiff’s secretary and defendant conspired to gradually procure plaintiff’s money on tho pretence of investing it on the basis of the division of profits between herself and Gardner. She advanced Gardner cash, also £577,078 worth of securities. It was alleged that besides entering smaller sums than wore received the defendant drew dividends belonging to her, making a total of £983,758 and she received nothing in return. Mr Rufus Isaacs stated" that as his cMent, defendant, had not appeared and he was unable to call him as a witness ho consented to a judgment against his client .which Justice Ohaunell entered with costs.
