Mearland moved that the New Zeaand Conference bo given permissive legislation to deal with stationing ministers either in the representative or ministerial session of the annual conference. Ho said there was a strong desire in New Zealand to possess that power. The Eev. Lawry moved an amendment making it mandatory that the question should be transferred to tho representative session. This, together with a number of amendments, was negatived and tho original motion was carried by 53 to 20. On Eev. Garland’s motion it was decided to tender congratulations to the branches of Methodism in Japan on having accomplished union. Sydney, Juno 12. The Methodist Conference decided to axipoiut sectional committees in connection with each annual coufreeuce ,to confer with representatives of Presbyterian aud Congregational churches with a view to formulating a basis of union. During the discussion it was xioiuted out that New Zealand aud Victoria were axiathotic in the matter.
