Stock Markets. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows:—During the week we have held Hirnatangi and Palmerston North, and a dairy sale on behalf of Mr Oooksley. At Himatangi on Monday wo had a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle, the yards .being taxed to their utmost—sso head of cattle and 1750 sheep being penned. There was good competition throughout, and all lines with the exception of five pens of cattle were sold. Quotations :—Sheep: Store Limbs 8s 9d, Himataugi estate lambs lis, good shorn lambs 13s Id to 13s 3d, empty ewes 10s 8d to lis 4d, cull ewes in lamb 8s 9d to lis Od, store wethers 15s Bd. Cattle : Weauers 19s to 23s 6d, forward cows £2 to £3 10s, 18 months steers £3 13s to £3 0s 6d, yearling steers 355, cows and calves 30s to £3 13s 6d, heifers in calf £3 to £3 10s, cows in calf £3 17s 6d to £4. At Palmerston on Thursday we had an average entry of sheep and cattle. Bidding at auction was somewhat slack, but good business was done privately and very few lines were unsold, f Sheep: Forward ewes lis Cd to 12s sd, fat and forward ewos 14s 3d, mixed black faced 2 tooths 14s. Cattle: Small weauers lis, store cows 30s, forward cows £2 10s to £3, fat cows £4 os to £4 12s, yearling steers 355, 20 months steers £3, forwaard bullocks £5 2s Gd. x\t Mr Cooksley's sale on Wednesday dairy cows made from £3 5s to £B, heifers in calf £3 7s 6d to £4, weaner heifers 18s. Sundries sold at marketrates. At Kimboltou on Tuesday notwithstanding the very rough weather experienced we had an exceptionally heavy yarding cattle in particular coming forward in large numbers every "pen being filled. There was also a good yarding of sheep. In sympathy with down courtry markets bidding was dull but nevertheless we succeeded in effecing practically a total clearance. Sheep: 2 tooth to f.m. ewes in lamb lis, mixed lambs 12s 3d, ewe lambs 13s Id, mixed lambs and small 2 tooths 13s 2d. Cattle : Good weaners 25s to 28s weaners los to 21s mixed .yearlings 27s 0d to 31s IS months to 2 year steers £3 springing cows £4 3s Gd to £5 10s forward cows £3 103 Gd to £3 17s 6d store cows £1 to £1 19s 2 year heifers 31s Gd to 3Gs 18 months heifers 32s 6d yearling heifers 29s Gd. At Feilding on Friday wo had a good entry of sheep and cattle. Prices wore on a par with those ruling last week. Sheep cull lambs 10s to lis lOd ewe lambs 14s cull owes 5s ewes in lamb 13s 9d. Cattle : Small weaners 7s store cows 35s to 35s forward cows *£2l 2s Gd fat heifers £3 2 year heifers 30s Gd, 2 yer steers £3 10s forwaard bullocks £5 18s. Messrs .1. H. Nixon and Co. report as under :—We held our usual stock sale at Wangamii ou sth instant, when we were favoured with a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. SWbep sold readily at current prices, the whole of the yarding being disposed of before the close of the sale. Bidding for cattle was dull, though we succeeded in quitting most cf tho lines passed in after the sale. Wo quota :—Cattle : Fat cows £5, forward cows £3 lis to £3 12s 6d, forward steers £5 lGs, 2 to steers £3 8s Gd to £3 63, 3-yoar steers £-1 7s Gd, mixed yearlings 2s to 255, empty heifers por 27s to 335, others £2 4s to £3 7s, heifers in calf £1 17s fid to £3, cows in calf poor £2 2s Gd to £2 7s, store cows £1 5s to £2 lGs. Sheep: Fat ewes 15s to 17s 3d, forward ewes 10s 8d to 14s, wether lambs 10s Gd, mixed lambs 8s Gd to 13s 3d, 2tooth wethers 16s 3d, others 10s to 13s Gd, 3 and 4-year ewes in lamb 15s Id to 16s, 4 and C-toth ditto lGs 9d, f.m. ewes in lamb 10s 2d to 13s sd, cull ditto 8s to 10s. Pigs: Porkers 25s to 27s Gd, light ditto lGs to 17s. Grain and Produce. CnEisTcnuECH. June 5. Messrs Kaye and Carter quote as follows— Wheat: Milling Tuscan and Pearl 4ssd to 4s !)d, milling Hunter's 4s 5d to 4s 6(1, fowl whoat 4s 3d to 4s 4d, f.0.b.5.e., Lyttelton. Milling wheat—After a week of great excitement, our market is quieter and prices slightly easier. Fowl wheat —Practically none available. Oats: A Gartou, 3s to 3s Id; B Garton, Sparrowbills and Danish, 2s lid to 3s; Duns 3s 2d to 3s 4d. f.o.b.s.i. Lyttelton. Market very strong. Local demand absorbing all available supplies. Table potatoes: £3 15s to £4 10s, verv limited demand. Seed lots £4 : os to £5 f.o.b. sacks included.
