SUPREME COURT.

Press Association. Timabu, Juno 4. At the Supremo Court to-day tho Grand Jury found true bills in three cases presented, and two trials were completed. In one case Henry Clifford was convicted of theft of a swag, and having three previous convictions was sentenced to six months’ hard labor, following four months’ imprisonment awaiting trial. In a case or forging and uttering a,t Meth ven an alibi was proved and prisoner was discharged, A case of assault with intent remains, and tho next case taken will be a motion for attachment of 13 Pareora slaughtermen’s assistants for nonpayment of fines for striking. This case will bo defended.

At Wanganui sitting of the Supreme Court yesterday the case Lucy Pybns v. John Pybus, an application for restitution of conjugal rights, was hoard. Mr Lyon (Marton) appeared for tlio petitioner. Lucy Pybus, residing at Croftou, the wife of John Pybus, storekeeper, of Eata, stated that she was married at Halcombe, in the house of Mr Harris, schoolmaster, iu 1881. She and her husband remained iu Halcombe till 1892, when they moved to Rata, where they lived for 13 vears. In 189'.) Mr Pybus wont to Adelaide to see a brother who was dying, and on his return (for reasons which witness now know) ho became dissatisfied with witness. Friction occurred between them, and in 1904 Mr Pybns loft- homo, and had since refused to return. Witness was now living in Croftou. A decree for tho restitution of conjugal rights was then granted. Robert John Foster was brought up for sentence, on tho charges of which he had been found guilty, of falsifying the books of tho Maugawoka'Sash and Door Company, and the embezzlement of monies from tho company. His Honour admitted tho accused to two years’ probation, special conditions being imposed. Ho was ordered to pay -527 5s costs towards tho prosecution, the amount to ho paid in four equal half-yearly instalments, commencing on December 31st nest.

John Fishor, found guilty of obtaining goods by false pretences, and for the theft of money, was admitted to probation for two years with suecial conditions. Ho was ordered to -pay £9 ISs Gd to the Post Office for the lad from ho stole it, the money to be paid in ouo mouth from date; also pay tiie cost of tho action, £23 18s 9d, within three mouths, and tho sum of £3O for the goods obtained under false pretences within six mouths.
