The Department of Industries and Commerce has received a cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, June Ist, as folio market is steady, but tho demand is only moderate. Holders are firm and the supply of light weight mutton is increasing. The average price to-day was 4d for Canterbury brands, and 3|d for North Island. The lamb market remains firm, and thereis a good demand for all classes, especially heavy weights. Canterbury sid, other brands s}d. The beef market is firm, and prices continue to advance. Hind and forequarters 3ld and 3-}d respectively. The butter trade is firm and sur-.-v-ir trades are in demand. New Zealand supplies are running short. Choicest qualities are 99s*per cwt. Cheese is firm and there is an improved demand for New Zealand makes. White cheese 675, coloured Css per cwt. The hemp market is depressed owing to reports from Manila which indicate that shipments are likely to increase. Good fair grade on spot is quoted at .£33, and fair grade is in the same position and is worth ,£2B 10s. The' value of fair current Manila on spot is .£35 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. Bright, clean pressed 5-ls per cwt. The wool market remains firm.

Messrs"A. H. Atkinson and Co. report:—A fair entry of pigs came forward on Friday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and prices wore about equal to last week. A good entry of poultry sold well.. Produce came forward in large quantities, and sold at late rates. Quotations:—Horses: Aged £1 10s to £5 7s Gd, 4 year old mare £l4 13s 6d. Pigs : Weaners 8s 4d to 7s, slipsl Is, -stores 14s, porkers 17s to 19s Gd, sows 59s to G9s 6d. Poultry: Cockerels Is to 2s 6d, hens Is to Is Bd, turkeys 4s 3d, ducks Is 8d to 2s 2d. All at each.' Produce: Potatoes, pig, 3s 9d, good 10s, korse carrots 2s 6d per sack. Onions )£d to Id per lb, pumpkins HA per lb. Factory bacon: Sides hams 7J£d, home cured 7>£d, 7J£d, 8d per lb.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their usual weekly sale at Feilding as f ollows :—We had a medium entry of sheep and cattle. Bidding was not brisk at auction, but we disposed of the bulk of our yarding at satisfactory prices. Quotations :—Sheep: Lambs 9s to 12s, 2-tooth wethers 16s 9d, 2-tooth to f.f.m ewes in lamb 18s. Cattle : 2year steers £2 ss, fat and forward cows £3 to £3 10s, store cows £1 15s to £2 4s, cows in calf £2 Is to £3, weauers good 24s to 255. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report.—At our "Wanganui sale on the 29th inst. we yarded 550 mixed cattle, 3300 mixed, sheep and GO nigs. Bidding was farly brisk, most lines changing hands before the day closed. Pigs sold at advanced prices.
