Stock Report. Messrs Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report having held a very satisfactory clearing sale on the 39th instant on account of Mr Octavius Staushury, Kimboltou. Considering the rough cold weather of late the sheep looked well and the following are the prices realised : —2-tooth to f.f.m ewes in lamh 22s to 255 s 3d, ewe lambs 14s lid, wether lambs 13s 3d, empty ewes 12s. Romney rams 2gus. The horses and cattle, also implements, etc., sold at fall market rates. Messrs Abraham and Williams report : At Palmers ton on Thursday a very large entry of cattle came forward, including several big lines of two and three-year steers, and, as buyers were present for this class of cattle, a good clearance was made, and very few lots went away unsold. The'yarding of sheep was smaller than usual, fauil, with few exceptions, of inferior quality. Any good linos sold readily, but aged ewes and poor lambs wore difficult to quit. Quotations. —Sheep: 4 and 5ycar ewes in lamb 14s 8d to 16s 7d, cull owes in lamb 8s to 11s Bd, lambs 10s 7d to 11s lOd, call lambs 5s Id to 7s sd, store wethers 15s Bd, empty owes 10s 8d to 11s fid. Cattle: Forward bullocks £0 I7s fid, 3-year steers £4 5s fid to £4 15s, steers £3 17s to £4 3s, 2-year steers £3 8s to £3 15s, 18-mouths steers £3 os to £2 os, good weauers 20s to 255, others 12sJ"-o-15s, yearling heifers 20s to ,--s, heifers in calf £3 8s to £3 10s, tat cows £3 15s to £4 Bs, forward cows £2 os to £3, store cows 20s to 355. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their usual Palmerston North sale on Thursday as follows: —Wo hud a medium entry of both sheep and cattle, but recent rough cold weather had a depressing off’oct_ on the market," and sale was dragging. Wo quote: Woolly lambs 12s 9d to 13s (id, cwses in lamb Ifis, shorn lambs 12s 10d, 2-year heifers £3 ss, weauors 80s.
Grain and Seed Report. Kayo and Carter quote as follows; —Wheat milling Tuscan 4s fid to 4a 7d, Pearl 4s 7d to 4s 9d, milling Hunters 4s fid to 4s 7d, fowl wheat 4s 3d to 4s 4d, f.o.b. Lyttelton sacks extra. Milling wheat.—Market very excited and it is difficult to quote prices at which business could bo done. Fowl wheat; Practically none available. Oats : A Gartou 3s to 3s Id, JB Gartou 3s 10}4d to 2s lljiid, Sparrowbills 2s 10)?d to 2s 11 hid, Danish 2s lOJjd to 2s Hd, Duns 3s Id to 3s 3d, f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks included, market steadily advancing. Potatoes : Table sorts £3 15s to £4 10s, very limited demand.
Wanganui Woof, Skin. Hide, and Taiiow Sales.
Tho Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Wanganui, report as follows—At our monthly sale, hold on May 30th, we offreed a catalogue of -10 bales and bags of wool, 800 sheepskins, 2000 rabbit skins, 200 hides and calf skins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. The wool submitted was chiefly oddments and stragglers, which met witlda good sale at prices on a level with last sales rates. Crutchings are now beginning to come forward, and for the few lines offering good money was secured, up to 6d per lb being forthcoming for medium quality. Sheepskins were, if anything, a shade below the rate ruling for the previous sale, but the quality offering was not very good. A number of butchers lines failed to come forward owing to the .rough weather experienced in the back country recently. Competition for hides was fairly keen, and prices were on par with rates recently ruling. Attention to the get-up for realisation is especially necessary with the market in its present state fur all produce, as any lack of care is soonest reflected on faulty lines. We quote— Wool.—Coarse crossbred 8d to crossbred lambs 8d to Bjdd, inferior lambs to dead wool 7d to 71£d, black 7d to 1%, medium quality "crutchings 5%d to fid inferior 4/dd to sd, pieces 3%d .to otfd, locks to 414. Sheepskins.—Crossbred 7d to B£(d half wools to quarter wools 6%d to 7%d, pelts Ck'd to 7d, inferior Ij-Al to Gd, part dry crossbred 5s 5d to 7s, part dry half wools up to 5s od. Hides.—Stout ox and Jover |’6olbs (none offering), 40’s ’to 60’s s}kd to under 40’s 4Jf'd to oj-jjd, weauer.s s>ld, calf skins 7d to slippy 3%d to od.

Messrs Johnston and Co. report— At oiir usual monthly sale wo offered a If air catalogue of sheepskins and wool, about 1400 rabbit skins, and a small lot of hides. Prices for all lines were on a par with last sale. We quote— Wool.—Coarse crossbred Bd,' dead wool 7%d, lambs 7%d, locks 3d to 41Jd, pieces 3d to Od. Horsehair.—ls 2d per lb. Rabbit skins. —7jJd per lb, weaucrs 4tl, suckers 2d. Tallow.—Casks, none offering; tins 18s Gd.

Messrs Levin and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Freeman R. Jacksou and Co., report— Wo held our usual monthly sale on tho 30th, offering 18 bales and 30 bags of wool, 1180 skins, 330 hides, and a 'quantity of tallow, bones,, horns and horsehair. There was a full attendance of buyers, aud competition for all Hues iu good condition was fully maintained. We wish we could sufficiently impress on our friends the need there is for more care in the preparation of both skins and hides for sale, the lack of competition on both of tho above mentioned linos arising solely from want of care in the curing of them. Wo fool we cannot allow tho matter to rest without again calling attention to it. Wo arc anxious to place all our knowledge at the disjiosal of onr friends, aud shall only bo too pleased, cither verbally or by letter, to answer any inquiries they may choose to make. The 'success of tho sales is very largely dependent on the quality of the produce offered, aud tins is a matter resting solely iu their hands.
