DEVASTATED BY TORNADO.
Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, May 21. Advices have been received that a tornado on April 30 caused widespread damage in the Solomon Islands, Oleai being devastated. The death roll is estimated at 200 and is expected to bo increased when details come in from the outlying islands. A cutter has arrived at New Britain seeking assistance and Government is sending a despatch vessel. The details are meagre. Sydney, May 23. The storm was at the Caroline Islands, not at the Solomon Isluads. It burst without warning, carrying everything before it. Natives wore swept into the sea, aud tidal waves inundated the coastal villages.
