THE STORY OF THE KELLY GANG.

In view of tho forthcoming visit to Marten Of Messrs J. and N. Tait’s company presenting a pictorial delineation of the most exciting period in Australian history of outlawry wo reprint a report of the opening night Of tho company in Sydney The exploits of tho Kelly Gang, away back in tho early eighties, were adinittedlv sufficiently daring in their character and tragic in their sequence to provide a sensational page m Australian history. Hundreds scrambled wildly for seats at the Palace Theatre on Saturday evening, in response to tho announcement that there would be there presented Australia’s greatest drama. ‘The Story of the Kelly Gang, ’ on tho biograph—tire most thrilling moving picture series ever taken. The impatience of the ‘gods’ in tho gallery was expressed as noisily and emphatically as their license allows. For the series of dramatic and comic films Which comprised tho first half of the programme they showed only a passing interest, although they were excellent pictures, served up in a more palatable fashion than usual by having the characters ‘voiced’ by people behind tho scenes. Tho Messrs Tait would appear to have spared neither trouble nor expense in endeavoring to picture for the entertainment of a I‘JO7 audience tho most notable and authenticated Kelly achievements of a quarter of a century back. The films aro clear and distinct, tbo chief actors concerned in the bush drama arc fairly recognisable, the photographs aro taken in ‘Kelly country,’ and after duo allowance is made for certain acknowledged liberties taken, tho illustrated record is probably as satisfactory as anything of tho kind pro curable at tins distant date.
