Wool Sales-

Press Association —Copyright. London, Way 10. ' The wool sales have closed. Prices were the highest for the series. Messrs Abraham fid _ Williams have received the fo*.. svmg cable from Loudon under yesterday s date The sales closed for all kinds of wool, and prospects are good. There is an active demand tor all brandies of the trade. Coarse crossbreds, which fell }£d to Id per lb., fully recovered towards the eud ox the sale. Crutching, pieces and bellies are K<l to Id lower. -The total quantity held over is 14,000 bales, of which 10,000 bales are New Zealand.

Pending Wool, Skin and Hide Sales.

Messrs A. IT. Atkinson and Co., Feilding, report;—At onr monthly sale on Thursday we offered 14 bales and 60 bag lots of wool, 1700 skins, _ 800 hides, 16 casks and 70 tins or tallow, and the usual sundries. There was a good attendance of buyers? The wool consisted entirely of rough lots, and sold well up to the market. A few small lots ot early crutclrings came in and made up to i- A drop in skins was expected and prices realised must be considered satisfactory. Hides .declined from %d to 1d m sympathy with the fall in Australian markets. Tallow showed a slight improvement. Quotations: —Wool: Medium crossbred B*£d to 9d, cottcd and dingy 7K<l t 0 8(i > MaCk ' d t 0 lambs Bd~ to BUd, crutchings fad to (si/d looks and pieces 2d to a%a. Skins: Full wools B%d, shorts to half wools 8d to 81*1, inferior and broken 6d toE7&d. “lambs B>,d, broken 0d to 7d, dead to damaged 4d to od, sound pelts 7Wd, inferior 4d to G>,fcl butchers half dry shorts and half wools 3s fad to os id, dead lambs 4s to ss. Hides : Medium ox 5Kd light 43dd to 4%d, cow 4, / id to U damaged 3>*l to 4*l bulls SPKd, sound calf 7d, damaged 3d to 5d horse 6s to 6s 3d. .Tallow etc.: In casks, butchers’ mixed £33 10s to £25 10s per ton; in tins 20s per cwt, inferior 11s Od, horsehair Is od per ID., bones 3s fid .per cwt.

Messrs Abraham and Williams report: At Palmerston on Thursday wo had an exceptionally heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle. Competition was. not as good as week, and lambs wore inclined to drag at auction, and several linos were passed, but those found purchasers soon after at satisfactory prices. A good clearance was effected in the cattle yards, hut boro again bidding was not as keen as it has been for the last few sales, and several lines of steers and fat cows had to be passed -out unsold. Quotations Good fat find forward wethers 19s to 19s lOd, others 15s 9d to 17s110d, mixed 3 tooth ewes and wethers 14s, fat ewes 14s 9d, ewes iu lamb mixed ages 15s 9d to ;6s 3d, ewe lambs 13s to 13s, wether lambs 10s 9d to 12s, cull lambs 6s 7d to 8s lOd, good wcaners 32s Gd to 295, others 14s to 18s, small weauers _9s 6d to 13s, fat cows £3 10s to £4 os, forward cows £3 10s to £3, store cows 25s to 30s, yearling steers 39s to 41s, 18 mouths 50s to 50s, 2% year steers 70s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows : —At our Palmerston sale on Thursday wo yarded a fair number of sheep, all of which were sold at satisfactory prices, with the exception of one pen. The following is a list of the prices realised:—2 tooth ewes iu iamb 17s 4d, aged ewes iu lamb 11s 3d, shorn lambs 11s 6d to 13s 9d, woolly lambs 13s. Id, forward wethers |l7s i6d. A line of 160 fat lambs realised. 14s 2d, and a special line of 80 2 tooth Lincoln ewes, bred by McMaster’s estate, Matanhero, were sold to Mr W. Brady, of Bunny thorpe, at 5 'guineas. A small yarding of cattle met a rather dragging sale. Fat bullocks realised to £7 17s 6d, 3 year bullocks in failorder £5 10s The New Zealand Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that their sale at Palmerston North on Thursday had a somewhat small yarding t o f sheep. A fair demand existed all round, and although several lines were passed at auction, practically a total clearance v. = effected. Cattle: Weauers 18s to 18s Gd, good weauers 265, 30 mouths steers £3 os to £3 12s, store cows 37s 6d to 80s, forward cows £3 7s Gd to £3 14s, 3 year steers £4 17 and £4 17s 6d, forward bullocks £O. Sheep: Aged ewes in lamb 9s lOd, store wethers 15s Id, cull lambs 5s 9d, store lambs 8s 9d.
