f (From Our Own Correspondent.) I The annual school concert was held here on Wednesday last. The weather was favourable and a large crowd turned out. The programme was opened with a pianoforte duet by Miss Brown and Sir Lock, after which songs were contributed by the following ladies and gentlemen: Miss Ohubbin, ‘ ‘ Sing me to Sleep, ’ ’ encored; Misses Holloway, “Juanita,’’; Miss B. Stent, “When the Harvest Moon is shining on the River,’’ encored; Miss B. Meads, ‘ ‘ Garden of Sleep, ’ ’ encored ; Mr Berry, “I wouldn’t leave my little Wooden Hut,’’ encored; Miss M. Stent, ‘ ‘ One always love you’ ’; Miss L. Stent, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder’ ’; Mr Jackson, “Man with Ladder and the Hose.” Recitations were given by Mr Philps and by Miss R. Holloway. The accompaniments were played by Misses B. Stent and Smith and Mr Lock. During the evening the prizes were presented to the school children, and the chairman, Mr H. Stent, on behalf of the school committee, thanked those who had assisted to make the concert a success. Supper was then handed round by the Mdies, after which many adjourned to the old school to dance. The cold weather has brought down the milk supply here and the creamery has commenced miming every second day. Rainfall for April, 2.76 m. Average thermometer, at 9.30 a.m., 69. Jo.
