FOOTBALL

Manawatu Rugby Union. The usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held last evening. Present: Messrs Gibbons (in the chair), Fraser, Armstrong, Freeman, McLean, Stagpoole, Manning, Torstonson, The referees in matches hist Saturday reported tho Palmerston, Feildmg, Huimai, and "Ashhurst Clubs for playing without club colours, add each club waa fined 2s 6d.

The Bulls Club wrote asking for permission to play in this district, and the Foxton Sub-Union supported tho action. It was decided to refuse any application from teams to play in or outside Manawatu boundaries. The secretary’s action in refusing permission to the Halcomba cr Ouepuhi Clubs to play under Eangitikoi Sub-Union was confirmed.

The last year’s Accident Insurance Committee was present at tho meeting and explained tho position of affairs’rogarding tho claims from the Foxton Sub-Union players, and it was decided to recommend tho present Accident Insurance Committee to pay Royal’s claim, and the others when doctor's certificates are furnished. The past committee’s explanations regarding other details were accepted as perfectly satisfactory. On the motion of Mr Manning, seconded by Mr McLean, it was decided that owing to the unworkable arrangements in the past, this Union recommends to the Insurance Committee not to accept any subunion under the insurance scheme and further recommend the Foxton SubUnion to form and manage their own fund.

On the motion of Mr Manning, seconded by Mr Freeman, it was decided that the Foxton Sub-Union bo informed that Bulls being outside the Manawatu boundaries, no players from there can play in Lie Foxton contest, and further that any matters the Sub-Union desire to bring under tho notice of tho N.Z. Union must first come through this Union.

On the motion of Mr Manning, it was decided that this Union strongly disapproves of any suggestion of sending Homo a team of footballers to play any Northern Union Clubs there.
