UPPER RANGITIKEI GUN CLUB
Tbe quarterly shoot was held on Messrs Duncan Bros, paddock, Huntervillo, on Wednesday. There was a good attendance, and besides the quarterly handicap, three sweepstake events were got off. Results ; Quarterly Handicap, ten birds: W. Nosbit, 9 birds, 1; J. G. Barthorp, 8,8; G. Morris, 8,3; D. Hammond, 8, 4. The last throe tied, and the shoot-off resulted as above.
No. 1 Sweepstake, seven birds: G. Gibbons, W. Meldrum, H. Gage and G. Morris all tied with six birds. They divided £4. and shot off for the odd money, Mr Meldrum proving the winner. Some excellent shootiug was clone in this competition. No. 2 Sweepstake; O. Gibbons, IT. S. Mercer, J. G. Barthorp, Tomoti and E. D. Hammond all tied with six out of seven birds. The shoot-off resulted—o. Gibbous 1, E. D. Hammond 3, Temeti 8. No.' 3 Sweepstake : J. J. Lourio, W. Meldrum, G. Morris, E. D. Hara- ■ mond, Temeti and H. Gage tied with five out of seven birds. The shootoff resulted—J. G. Barthorp 1, Temeti 2, E. D. Hammond 3. The last event‘was a double rise, which was won by Mr Geo. Morris. Tho leading aggregates for the Quarterly Handicap, three have been hold, gold medal are—E. D. Hammond 29, H. S. Mercer 17, W. Nesbit 10, C. Gibbous 18, Temeti 12. The annual meeting of the Club was 1 1 eld on Wednesday evening at Huntcrville. The following officers were electedMr J. Duncan, Patron ;Mr J. G. Barthorp, president; Messrs Haycock and D. Hammond, vice-presidents; Messrs Meldrum, Morris, Lourio, president, vicepresidents ex officio; Executive Committee, throe to form a quorum ; Mr Morris treasurer, Mr Juq. Norris secretary. Mr Temeti invited the cluh to a picnic at Kakariki, which was cordially accepted. Mr J. Lourio also ■ invited- the cluh to a picnic on his Mt. Curl property, I date to bo arranged. Mr J. Perry was unanimously elected official reIfereo. Tho matter of assistant re- ' fereo in case of absence was loft to the Executive. The club has, during its first year, paid out £ll4 Os (id in cash for prizes. Mr A> H. Wilson has presented the cluh with a set of ivory backed hair brushes in leather case for first prize to tho winner of the first sweepstake at next monthly meeting.
