First Day.

Per Press Association. Napier, May 8.

The weather is gloriously lino for the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Antnmn meeting. The attendance is a record. Results :

Longlauds Hurdles, miles: Te Uira 1, Merriwai 3, Nadador 8. Scratched: Glonafric. A good race. Won by two leutghs, Nadador a similar'distauco away. Time, 3min SSsces. Dividends, £3 11s and £1 ss. Maiden Hack,. 6 furlongs: Bine River 1, Olochetto 3, Waratah 3. Scratched : Reville, Quiver, Cantata, Hiuetitiraata And Formidable. Bine River, who led from the start, won by a length, Waratah a length away. Time, Imm lilscc. Diuidonds, £lO 10s and 17s.

Nursery Handicap, 5 furlongs: Moriarity 1, Oxton 3, Comedian 3. Scratched: Illustrious. A pretty race; won comfortably. Time, Imin 8 1-oth sec.

Porangahau Handicap, 6 furlongs : Contender 1, Lady Annie 3, Loftus 3. All started. Contender got away with the lead and was never caught. Lady Annie came with a rush, but cculd not overhaul the leader, whowon by a length ami a half. Time, Imin iSsec.
