At tho Conference Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s motion reaffirming tho preference resolution of 1903 was carried afterjthe British Government had recorded its dissent. The British Government’s motion, amended by Mr Deakin and Sir Joseph Ward, was thou carried. It leaves each part of tho Empire at liberty to select the most suitable means of promoting greater freedom and fuller development of commercial intercourse within the Empire, and recognises the ’desirability of co-operating in matters of mutual interest.
