FARMERS’ UNION.

Kimbolton Branch

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of Kimboltou Branch of Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday evening, but was very poorly attended, Mr E. H. Crabb presiding. Tho balance-sheet, which was presented and adopted, showed a small debit balance, although since being audited some outstanding subscriptions had b'een paid, which made tho financial position of the Bran cli somewhat better, it having at tho time of tho meeting a little credit in hand. Mr Crabb, in his summary of the year’s work, dwelt nt length upon the good effect the Union had had against tho bringing into force the proposed Laud Bill. He thought it was high time the voice of the Union was heard, and that this proposed Bill was pue upon which all those interested in tho land felt keenly. Among the various subjects which the Branch had taken up during tho year was technical education, and thanks to the energy of Mr L. E. Jackson and tho aid of the Wanganui Board tiiey had one class, at any rate, making good progress, and hoped in course of time to have others. The Rabbit Committee, in a sense, bad its origin from this Branch, and lie was pleased at the progress it was making and its usefulness. He hoped it would continue to do so, aud that the committee and branch would aid each other and work hand in hand to tho best of their ability. He regretted that the meetings were so poorly attended, but hoped that as time weut_ on members would take a more lively interest in the work of the Union. He then vacated the chair, and the secretary presided during election of officers for tbe ensuing year. Air R. Mcßetli proposed . Air Crabb for another year as chairman. Air L. E. Jackson, in seconding, said they had during the past year without a doubt a chairman who was keenly interested in all the work of the Brandi, and who had devoted considerable time and energy to his duties. Air Crabb was elected unanimously. Air W. Alorton, iu proposing a vote of thanks for tho services which the secretary (Air G. Watt) had rendered during his term of office, said lie could do so feelingly, as lie had previously held the same office. He quite symathised with- a secretary for the disheartening results of his labours in the way of poor meetings aud non-payment of subscriptions. Air Hilton Fowler seconded, and same was carried with acclamation. Air Watt suitably thanked the members for the way in which they had shown their appreciation of his services, and regretted that lie had to resign the office owing to his going further away to live, and therefore would not be able to attend as regularly as would be necessary.

Officers were elected as follows Oliairmau, B. H. Orahb; vice-chair, H. Henderson; delegate to Provincial Conference, chairman; auditor, P. A. C. Baddeley; committee. P. Ncsdale, H. Fowler, H. R. Hodge, G. Farner, F. Shapleski, Y> 7 . Morton, R. Moßeth, G. Watt, E. Palmer, J. Reutoul, L. E. Jackson, and J. Red.

It was proposed 'by the chairman and seconded by H. Fowler that subscriptions be collected on a graduated scale.
