OUR EXPORTS AND IMPORTS .
Pross Association. Wellington, May 2. Eoturns of tlio quantity and value of exports from New Zealand during tlio financial year ended 31st March are published in the Gazette. Exports of coal, gold, silver, and minerals are shown to have aggregated £2,534,850, as compared with 12,370,104 in the year before. Fisheries show only ,£10,879 against £26,143 for previous year, while a marked falling off is noticeable under the headings of fungus, kauri gnm, and timber, the values for 1907 being ,£831,163 as compared with £830,431 for preceding twelve months. Under frozen meat's, wool, tallow, butter, cheese, hides, live stock, bacon and hams, etc., the year recently closed made marked improvement, the figures being £14,548,171 for 1907 and £11,495,523 for 1006. A falling off is shown in regard to values of agricultural produce exported, the year having only £242,837 to its credit as compared with £433,977 for the year preceding. The principal falling off is in wheat. Manufactures, leather, phormium, woollens, etc., total £1,064,932. “ Miscellaneous ” values arc shown at <£35,793.
The total values of Nesv Zealand produceand manufactures exported are set down at £19,277,640, the figures for the year ended March, 1906, being £16,109,950. Specie is responsible for a large increase (£96,930 against £20,117). The value of imports for the year are given at £14,628.005.
