Frozen Meat. Press Association. Napieb, May 2. The O.C. and D. Company cabled as follows to-day on the frozen ■ meat mai’kett IMutton, Canterbury, 4d‘Napier, WoPlugtou, and North Maud lamb, first quality, 5%d, second 4J B 'd ; beef, hinds 3JM, fores 3)gd. Stock Market. Press Association. (jHßisTcnuncii, May 1. At the Addington market there wore fairly large, entries of stock and a good attendance. There was practically no change in fat cattle. Store sheep again sold well, as did fat lambs, prime sorts being very firm. Pigs were rather easier. There was a dull sale for store cattle but good dairy cows sold well. There was a good mixed yarding of store sheep, forward lambs, good breeding ewes, and wethers selling well, and there was an improvement in the price of backward lots. The yai'diug of fat lambs was a fairly large one, and there was a good propor tiou of prime lots. Competition among the’ export buyers was fairly keen," and for prime lines prices again showed an advance, while there was little change in others. Tegs made 18s to 21s fid, standard weights 14s fid to ITs 9d, lighter 12s 3d to 14s.
Pat Sheep: The range of prices was —Prime wethers IDs fid to 23s fid, extra 2fis fid to 3Ss, lighter 10s 2d to lS)s, prime ewes ITs fid to 21s 3d, medium Ms fid to ITs, aged 11s to 14s. Pat Cattle : Steers made £5 7s fid to £lO, heifers £4 os to £i) 10s, and cows £4 to £8 15s, equal to 13s fid to 25s for prime and 20s to 23s tor ordinary per lOOlhs. There was a fair cuti'y of stoi'e cattle, hut no demand, and tiie sales wore confined chiefly to a few culvers and potters. Good dairy cows sold well, the top price being £8 10s. Pigs : Baconers made Ms to 50s and up to 55s for heavy weights, equal to 4;Gd per lb; porkers 25s to 38s, equal to~4)Al to 5d per lb; largo stores 18s to 22s fid, medium 12s fid to ITs fid, and wcauors Ss to 13s.
London Wool Sales. Messrs Levin and Go. received a cable message from tbeix Loudon agents, stating that the sales had opened. Merinos and fine crossbreds remain unchanged, but medium and coarse declined per cent. Messrs Murray, "Roberts and Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their Loudon House dated 30th April;—The sale--have opened with an average attendance of buyers and competition is fair. The market shows no material change except for crossbreds, which have "declined 5 per cent, the greatest decline being shown in wasty and inferior descriptions. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received the following cable from Loudon under yesterday’s date The sales opened with moderate competition and large [attendance of buyers. The market is weak for inferior greasy crossbreds. There is a moderate demand for coarse crossbreds at Lpl per lb to V,d lower than last sales. Prices for inferior lambs ax - e on a par with last sales. Grain Report Messrs Todd and Douglass, Dunedin, report under date April 39th Oats—Tho market is decidedly firmer since last report. Very few oats are now offering from the country, and deliveries will soon bo almost stopped until tho winter months ■ are over. Merchants find great difficulty in buying from tho farmers.
