GERMAN FOREIGN RELATIONS.
Press Association—Copyright. Berlin, May 1
Some importance is attached in certain circles 'in Germany to the present visit" to Berlin of Baron Aoreusthal, Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs. The None Prie Presso_ states ‘that the good relations existing between Austria-Hungary, Britain aud Franco would enable them, under certain circumstances, to produce a mitigation of the nll-too-sliarp divergence between those Powers aud Germany. Prince Billow, in Ills speech in the Reichstag, said that every time the Kaiser journeyed to the Mediterranean he had visited the King of Italy. It was quite natural that King Edward should do the same when touring on the Italian coast. The friendly relations of England with Italy were advantageous aud desirable to Germany and there was no arriero pousco. The Persia-Anglo-Rnssiau rapprochement was an attempt to settle old disputes. There was no opposition between England aud Russia that could be turned to Germany’s account in Morocco. Germany only de: 'rod equal commercial opportunities and there wore no controversies between Germany and England which could interfere with friendly efforts if the sensible sections of both nations let Germany cultivate friendships aud alliances aud were not anxious respecting ententes upon matters which do not immediately affect her. ‘ ‘ Let us grant, ’’ he added, “others the freedom of movement we claim for ourselves. ’ ’ The speech is considered as reassuring throughout Europe.
