SILVER WEDDING.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday 26th ultimo two of our earliest settlers', Mr and Mrs K. McKenzie, of Mangarimu, received in their woolshed a large company of their friends to celebrate the 2oth anniversary of their wedding and also the coming of ago of their third sou Kenneth. Over 100 guests were assembled and several handsome presents of silver testified to the popularity of the host and hostess. Mr J. Rentoulprooosed their healths in a speech' that" invoked Loud applause, and appealed to each'unmarried person present to imitate the worthy examples before, thcin, Mr MeKenzie, who seemed deeply moved by the goodwill displayed, replied on behalf of himself and his wife, who was wearing her wedding dress. At the same time he took the opportunity of making a presentation, in tho name of the settlers, to Miss Roache, Int.- teacher of Mangarimu school, who is leaving tho district. After simper Miss -Edney sa«g, and later on Miss Cameron \saiig and danced. Mr '•'S.oot.fcy" MaoDonaid recited, at Mr M.< ; K.:nzie J s special request, tho "Pipes of LuoioKW." Miss E. Jameson on the violin and Mr Rankin at the piano provided excellent music. Under the efficient generalship of Mr J. Watts, M.C., dancing was prolonged till 4.30 a.m. when the party reluctantly dispersed. ' ' -
