THE MURDER OF PANTON.

Press Association —Copyright. Melbouene. April 25; The police have arrested at Broadmeadows a young German named Schonbeer, in connection with the murder of Panton. The prisoner confessed that while he and Panton were camping together on April 18th they quarrelled owing to his refusal to agree to a certain suggestion Panton made. Panton threatened to stab Schonbeer, and the former rushed at him with a knife. Schonbeer snatched a tomahawk and struck Panton twice. He then took to the bush and wandered about and lost himsolf. For some time ho w-s without food, and at the time of arrest was wearing the murdered man’s shirt and boots. Ho states that Panton gave them to him.
