For the second day’s racing thera was fine weather. About 3500 were present. The sum of ,£17,862 wont through the machine to-day, making a total of 2330,684 for the meeting, an increase of £4828 over last year. The double —Autumn and Suburban Handicaps—paid £l7 6s. Results: —
Hurdles, 11 miles—Pawa 1, Leeside 2, Assayer 3. Also started: Levant, Sen Sint and Eangitoto. Pawa took charge in the straight, when Leeside, who had been racing in the rear challenged him, but Pawa held his own all the way to the finish and won by a length. Time, 2min 50 2-sths sec. Divs, £2 aud £1 Bs.
Hutt Handicap, 1 mile —Knrawaka 1, The Lark 2, Royal Blue 3. Also started: Aldus, Wirral, Seaman and Scotch Reel. Koyal Blue led for six furlongs when Knrawaka took charge and Wirral ran up into third place. Knrawaka led into the straight and coming on full of running won 'by three lengths. Time, Imiu 45 l-sth sec. Divs, £4 19s and 13s. Muritai Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs— Moloch 1, Swimming Belt 2, Merri Kose 3. Also started: Armamonto, Mataari, Truthful, Comxsass, and Gold Guard. A good race; won by a neck. Time, Imin 32 4-sths sec. Divs, £5 and 14s.
Autumn Handicap, It miles—Sir Tristram 3, Mystification2, Helen Portlands. Also started :—Marguerite, Mahuta, St. Joe, Clanobattan and Naptha. Ilelen Portland and Marguerite led for about 7 furlongs when Mystification and Sir Tristram moved up. Helen Portland was first into the straight, but 200yds from home Sir Tristram rushed through aud won by three lengths. Time, 2min 12sec. Divs., £3 12s and £2 ss. Suburban Handicap, 7 furlongs—Lady Annie 3, Contender 2, Medallist 3. All started. This was a great race to the entrance into the straight, where Lady Annie came on and won comfortably by a length and a quarter. Pas Seui was fourth. Time, 1.31 2-ssec. Divs.,£4and £4 19s.
Pacific Handicap, 6 furlongs—Do Witto 1, William 2, Chicane 3. Also ran: Gold Crest and Orton. De Witto came with a late run and won by a neck. Time, Imin 18sec. Div., £2 195.. St. Leger Stakes, If miles—Volume 1, Grand Slam 2, Seal Kook 3. Only starters. Volume stole a march on the field when half a mile from home, and won by a length. Seal Kock, who was a rod-hot favorite, was a length behind Grand Slam. Time. 3miu 22 2-ssec. Div., £3 ss.
Belmont Hack—Clem 1, Gauze 2, Hiro 3. Also ran: Erl King 1, Merry Pose, Kaluku, Moata, Saga. Won easily by a length. Time, Imin 17 3-ssec. Divs., £4 7s and £1 17s. The chief stake-winners at the meeting were : Sir Geo. Clifford, £739 ; Hon. J. D. Ormond. £4su ; Mr G. P. Mooro, £3(30 ; Mr P. Goodwin, £335.
