Per Press Association.—Copyright, London, April 19.

Mr Hughes has inserted in the papers a press cable from Sydney warning boiler-makers and other members of the iron trades that there were no openings for them -in Australia. Mr Ooghlan states that he is not assisting boiler-makers and is giving no encouragement to iron workers to emigrate. Sir Josiah Symou, in an interview, urged the necessity of peopling the Northern Territory, otherwise the chance of Australia retaining it was small if the' Motherland should become engaged in a life and death struggle.
