Press Association.—Copyright. London*, April 19. King Edward will give a banquet to the Premiers and ,thoir ladies at Buckingham Palace in the second week of May. . Manchester and Edinburgh will confer the freedom of the city on the Premiers.

The Imperial Industries Club gave a luncheon to the Premiers. Mr Deakin and Sir Wm, Lyne were absent. Two hundred were present, including Lord Jersey and the Lord Mayor. Sir Joseph Ward, replying to the toast of the Premiers, said Now Zealand was anxious to secure interchange of trade and she required no concessions. Tho Premiers would go back impressed by the removal of some discordant elements which used to exist. Lyne Again Troublesome. Sir W. Lyne again raised tho question of the status of Colonial Ministers at the Conference, intimating that ho was dissatisfied and unless they were conceded tho right _to freely intervene in tho discussion they would probably withdraw. Although Lord Elgin desired to adhere to the cabled limitation Sir Wilfred Lanrier supported Sir Wm. Lyue’s position. It was ultimately decided that one Colonial Minister, besides tho Premier, be allowed the fullest fights of discoussiou. Sir Wm. Lyne thinks tho Colonial Office aims at belittling the Conference. Tho Cabinet is considering Lord Elgin’s resolution of compromise, which tho Conference approved in principle. Disclaimer from Deakin, xr Deakin denies advocating Impreial Federation, while not believing that tho question is at present within the region of practical politics. He insists that his attitude is to maintain tho conference absolutely on its present basis. The Daily Telegraph says that the whole mystery of -the negative results of "two sittings is that ■while timid representatives are not afraid that the adoption of advanced proposals will he beyond tho desires of their peoples they are afraid they arc beyond tho desires of tho party bosses who arc unmoved by enthusiasm for tho Empire.
