Fourteen nominations have been received for tho Borough Council electious foriuiiie seats. Seven of the candidates sat in last Couucil. Tlierc arc three candidates for the Mayoralty—Mr Penny, the present Mayor, J. J. White, an old Councillor, and A, McCallum, flourmiller.
Hastings: T. J. Thompson, the present Mayor, and ;Messrs W. Y. Dennett and W. Lane, ex -Mayors, are candidates for Hastings Mayoralty. There are several candidates for the Council.
Napier: Three [candidates, : Messrs Caruell, Brown, and Spence are nominated for the Mayoralty, and for nine seats 'on the Council there are 17 nominations.
Nelson.: The Mayoral contest is between Jesse Piper, present Mayor, and Charles J. Harley, Barrister. There are 18 nominations for nine seats in the City Council, of whom eight are seeking re-election New Plymouth: E. Doekrill has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. Only--the required number of candidates for the Council lias beenfnoniinated.
Wellington: For the Mayoral election, Wellington City, Mr T. W. Ilislop, present Mayor, and T. M. Wilford, M.H.R., have been nominated. C. J. Crawford has been returned unopposed for Miramar. The Mayors of Karori (A. C. Pearce) and Eastbourne (F. G. Bolton) have been re-elected.
