NATIVE LANDS.
Per Press Assopiation. Auckland. April 17. Speaking atlTauranga, Mr McNab said that the" reason why the question ofnative land had hung overbite colony like a black cloud for many years was that more than half of the population had no interest at all m the native land question. From his knowledge of thefposition now he could see that if the Northern £mein> bers had said harsh things about Southern members who did not pay any attention to the question they were somewhat justified. He. hoystl the country was oil the 'eve of a better state of things in regard to this problem. He would cause iut quirios to be made \o see whethertlie bulk of the natives in some blocks could be induced to sell to the Government direct, but ho was in. hopes of sepiug some more comprehensive thing than these Government purchases. Tho Government is thoroughly alive now to the im« portance of the . settlement rof the native lands question.
