Grain Report Messrs Tudd and Douglass, Duuedin, report under date April 15th:— Oats.—Since last reporting the market lias remained steady. 1< armers are not inclined to accept the prices offering on account of the local demaud from such places as Oaniaru, where there is a shortage and farmers there will have to buy for winter feed. It is difficult to say what the trend of the market will be, but the general impression is that it lias reached bottom. Prices are—Gartons and Sparrowbills 2s r i%& to 2s Bd, B grade Gartons and Sparrowbills 2s 7d to 2s Duns 2s \l l /A to 3s with a good inquiry. Long tartars 2s lOd to 2s lid. All prices f.0.b.5.1. Milling Wheat.—Market remains firm and millers are picking.up anything available at current prices. We quote Velvet and Tuscan 3s 5d to 3s Bd, Hunter's 3s 5d to 3s 7d, f.o.b.s.i. , , Fowl Wheat.—Scarce, with a good inquiry. Good whole quality 3s 4d f.o.b.s.i.
Peas.—Practically all the new crop is now in second hands, and the market remains firm. We quote: Blue Prussians os to ',sa 3d f.0.b.5.i., Partridge 4s 9d to ss. Barley.—Feed quality 3s 9d to 3s 3d f.o.b.s.i.
Brail.—No change to report. Price 80s net f.o.b.
Pollard.—loos net f.o.b. Linseed.—A good -inquiry, with only a small quantity offering from the country. We quote first grade 514, medium £l2 5s to £l3 10s ! f. (>.!)..5.1. Rvegass.—Market quiet, although South Island houses are now brying'part of their requirements f>r Spring trade. Imported se:l, ,'/S-30;b 4s fid on 4s Od, 2G-271b Italian.—'Die strong demand continues. There will probably be a shortage of colonial seed when the South Island spring demand comes round. We quote: Weil marked machine dressed seed 5s 3d to os (id, Sfedium 4s 8d to 5s Id, imported, very flue quality, 4s 6d f.0.b., sacks -Cocksfoot. remains firm. Merchants have now bought practically the whole of the crop. We quote": Machine dressed 171 b seed ot£d to bYA, 101 b seed s>£d to fairly clean undressed seed 1.3-141 b CoVv grass. —No new crop available yet.
