MARTON SPORTS.

To-Morrow. Should the weather hold fine tomorrow another t success should be added to those already scored by Marton Athletic Club. Tho Club deserves hearty public support, not only from those resident; in the immediate locality, but also from all in the district who take an interest in sport, and as the Club lias siiown how well a meeting can be conducted the support no doubt will ho liberally accorded. The programme is decidedly attractive, and all events have filled remarkably well. The preparations made for to-morrow’s gathering for the convenience of patrons should easily place tho Club in the van of country meetings. Nothing will be left undone that could, in any way tend to tho comfort of the public or the success of tho meeting. The sport will start punctually at 1 o’clock, and tho events will he got off in quick succession. The - handsome silver bowl [presented by Mrs Wotton will be given as a points prize in the cycling events. A refresliment booth will be in charge of Mr Lighthourno, who has undertaken to supply tea and cakes and cordials for the 'nominal charge of 6d. THE CONCERT. . In the evening the concert will take place at the Opera House, and, the entertainment promises to surpass ' anything attempted before. The very best outside talent has been procured, while a number of lady and gentlemen vocalists of special ability have kindly consented to assist. Among those taking part will be that popular reciter, Mr G. Swan, whoso inimitable sketches will be of much humour and calculated ”to provoke hearty laughter. Tho first appearance of Mr A. Jeffrey, of Hnntorville, who has a very fine tenor voice, should be welcomed by Martoniaus. Vocal items will also be given by Miss Cameron, of Palmerston, Miss Paton, of. Ashlmrst, and Mr Bell, of Palmerston, as well as those to be given by leading Marton amateurs. A Highland dance will be given by Miss Cameron, of Bulls, and Mr Bert Crozier’s orchestra will supply a programme of bright and sparkling , selections.
