Bishop Wilson, of “Melanesia, *is visiting Sydney, and in an interview declared that there was not the slightest doubt that natives 'resident in the islands would he extremely glad to welcome returning kanakas, and not the slightest doubt of their ability to feed them. Those who spoke of inhumanity and of danger to returning kanakas spoke without knowledge of the facts. Any real trouble would bo more a source of danger to whites. Many returning natives would find whites in possession of their lands, sold to them fairly enough‘by their friends, but for which their share of profits would ho found .not to have been paid over.
