THE COMET.

Qn receipt of the sage,' says the Nelson Colonist, Mr F. Gj. Gibbs was counnunicaterl with and he endeavored to locate tho comet by means of the Atkinson telescope, but was unable to do so, owing to the sky . being cloudy. Coolum is a very small, obscure constellation with no .very bright stars to recognise it by. At seven o’clock in tho evening"' i\; Y,iU lio found iff Die’ sputif;western sky. The corner : ipay be traced by locating Oauoims, a bright star’ which can' easily he, found by following tho main axis of the Southern Cross across the west*: era part of the sky. Join these two stars by an imaginary line and bisect itraud Coelmn and the Comet should be a little, to the right or west oi the middle point. The term “right ascension’’ roughly corresponds to longitude, and declination *to latti* tude.
