ATTEMPTED MURDER.

(Press Association.) Christchurch, April 12,

The charge of attempted murder against James Smithers, who was the chief actor in the tragedy at Moorhouse Avenue on April sch was set down for hearing at the Police Court this morning. The station sergeant explained that Smithers was still confined to the hospital, the wound not having sufficiently recovered to allow him to appear in Court th ; s morning. Ho would therefore ask for a remand till April 19th, which was granted.
