D. S. Mclntyre, Superintendent of Awards at the Exhibition, who was suspended in connection with alleged irregularities, left by the Turakina for London to-day, under the assumed name of Mack. It is understood Mclntyre had been under police surveillance since coming to Wellington, but so far as had been ascertained there was no authority for detaining him. Wellington, April 12. With, reference to the departure of Mr Mclutyre by the Turakina Mr Hall-Jones states that Government know of Mr Mclntyre.s departure but as nothing of a criminal nature was known against him no attempt was made to detain him. The police visited him on board the vessel. The ActingPremier said so far no absolute irregularities had been discovered but several cases were being investigated. In any case the Exhibition finances would not suffer materially and there was no sug-. gestion whatever of defalcations on a large scale.
