The Minister of Lauds met a deputation of settlers at To Awamutu, wno urged Government to adopt effective means to cope with tiro rabbit pest which is increasing in the King Country at an alarming rate, largely through the large areas of native laud locked up. Mr McNab said the law obliged private owners to keep down rabbits aud there Jwas not the slightest hope of the State stepping in as a universal rabbitkiller, or starting a canning factory. Government had - no power to buy netting and sell it to settlers on terms, but that was the most practical suggestion that had been made. He promised to look into the matter, but ho held out mi hope of a bonus.
