SUICIDE OF A BANKER.
Per Press Association. Auckland, April 9. Henry Curnow, manager ol the Bank of New Zealand at Whangarei, committed suicide by shooting himself at Ponsonby to-day. He arrived from Whangarei this morning accompanied by his wife, and went to stay at the residence of his wife's sister, Mrs Baker, at Pon sonby. He came to town shortly after his arrival at Mrs Baker's house this morning, and was absent two hours. He returned at about noon, and as he approached his wife, who was standing on Baker's verandah, he drew a revolver and fired a bullet into his brain and fell dead. He had been in bad health for some time, but beyond that no reason is. known for the rash act. i Curnow was 40 years of age, and leaves a widow and one child. April 10. '
At the inquest evidence was to the effect that {deceased had been worried about his work, and was on his way to the head office of the Bank in Wellington. He had no domestic troubles. The jury returned a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind.
