There is great popular jrejoioing in CartageiUKv-King AlfonßO, Queen Christina, and the Infant Ferdinand, aboard the Giralda, met the Victoria and Albert at sea, warships escorting the Koyal yacht to port. The Spanish party, the Premier and high dignitaries accompanying, boarded the Victoria and Albert. The two Kings and the two Queens embraced each other affectionately. The visit was returned aboard the Giralda. Newspapers in Madrid declare that the visit has ratified the understanding, and ; will strengthen Spain's position with the world, Pakis, April 9. A Paris journal remarks that the Kaiser's indefinite postponement of his visit to_ Madrid shows that he understands that Spain is under Britain's political influence. Madbid, April 9. Every church in Spain for the last three days has had special masses for the Queen's accouchement.

At a banquet aboard the battleship Numancia King Alfonso, toasting King Edward and Queen Alexandria, emphasised the solidarity of interests and the mutual sympathy between the two countries. The whole friendship, he said, was strengthened by tho ties of kinship. He regretted Queen Eua's enforced absence. King Edward, in responding, eulogised the regency of the Dowager Queen Christina and the desire of King Alfonso that the ties of the houses aud«cotuitries founded on historical and traditional community of interest and real sympathy might be strengliened and drawn closer.
