MARTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Technical School

Committee was held last evening. Present: Mr J. J. McDonald (chairman), Rev. D. Gordon, Messrs S. J. and G. M. Davenport, Richardson, Little, Way, Morgan, Dolby, Newman (Farmers' Union], ' Purnell (Education Board), Mossman and Willies. Mr Wilkes, director, brought forward a tentative prospectus for the technical classes. It was resolved that application bo made to Marton Borough Council and Rangitikei County Council for the use of rooms until the completion of tlio technical school. Mr Wilkes was empowered to complete the prospectus and to arrange fonts publication as an inset in the Advocate. It was decided to request tlio j Education Board to lend specimens of technical school work for an exhibition at the opening of the new building. An application was made to the Board for an additional grant of j £2OO for a commercial room which could be erected more cheaply while ' the building was in course of construction. It was agreed to call a meeting to consider the employment of the fund collected in Marton for a Seddon memorial scholar-shi]). Subsequently the High School Committee held its monthly meeting. Correspondence was read as to the refund duo from the Railway Department of the excess fares collected at the school excursion. The Secretary was instructed to continue tho correspondence with tho district traffic manager.

It was decided to write to tho Board asking them to substitute another quarter for calculating tho attendance for the quarter ending March 31st, owing to the. prevalence of measles having reduced tho attendance last quarter.

It was resolved to ask Mr E. W. Broad to act as auditor of the accounts of the committee,
