FIRE.
(Per Press Association.) CnmsTrrnriiCn, April 8. A fire occurred on Sunday afternoon on the premises of ;J. Nash, leather and grindery store, Manchester street, in the same block as T. Bunting’s brush factory. The fire was soon got under, but two shops were gutted—Nash’s and Fawkes’, bootmaker, adjoining. The front part of Bunting’s was badly damaged.
Avcklxso, April 8. A lire occurred this morning in the Royal Insurance Company’s Buildings, Queen Street. The damage by fire was slight, but much damage was caused by water. Firemen Dndsou and Dartou were overcome by smoke and it was thought thaUthe former would succumb, but after an anxious time lie was restored to consciousness. The fire originated in the offices of Messrs Bradbury, Greatorex and Co., the cor tints oi which were destroyed. The office ol Jonas, accountant, was also badly burned. The offices of J. William's and Sou, contractors; Nicholson and Gribbon, solicitors; E. Bartley, architect ; were flooded with water, as were also to a lessor extent the offices of the Royal Insurance Co. and E. Anderson, stockbroker, on the ground floor.
