THE NEW BUTTER BOX.

As the aboye is evidently a valuable invention we have ascertained the following facts which may be q£ some service tp butter factories in making arrangement far future supplies of butter boxes; —fhe boxes are made of pulp under 2,0001 b pressure. The material is odourless, therefore cannot give the butter a taint, it is glazed all over with a secret preparation which makes it absolutely . waterproof, therefore free from mould or dampness qf any kind. The ends are, if required, cm, bossed with raised letters, giving name p,f factory, etc. The raised letters will. thug show on the ends of the butter placed on tho counter. The boxes will be tho colour of the present boxes or any colour desired, and will weigh about half the present weight. Being non-absorbent no tan >iU be needed as gt present, Owing to itq mechanical construction the bqx has an air draught all round no matter if ten thousand are stacked in one room, thus enabling the cold air from tho freezer to pass through without the need of laths as at present. The boxes are so constructed that the butter can he examined all over, and the box replaced 'without disturbing' the bUtfuF. The whole is held together with coppered steel bands, and if desired can bear a lead seal so as to detect if tampered with in transit. Owing fo the reticence of those interested, we find it difficult to get all the information the public would like, but we have obtained the above from r reliable source, At present the company are having the boxes nwde in Canada and Australia, and no doubt will take steps to make them in New Zealand at a later date. We are glad to learn that with all tho advantages we haye enumerated, tho price will be not more, but probably loss than tho present cost. One great advantage which should not be overlooked is that five or six boxes whea empty will only take the space now taken by one,* thus effecting a great saving in cartage, etc.
